Stock Market Holiday: The domestic currency, debt, and equity markets will remain closed on Wednesday, December 25, in observance of Christmas. Trading will resume on Thursday, December 26.
Stock Market Performance
The Nifty 50 index fell 0.11 per cent to close at 23,727.65 points, while the BSE Sensex slipped 0.09 per cent to 78,472.87 points on Tuesday, weighed down by declines in metals and information technology stocks.
The Rupee weakened by 0.1 per cent against the US dollar to 85.20, as a rise in US bond yields strengthened the dollar. Increased demand for the greenback from importers also contributed to pressure on the local currency.
Meanwhile, the benchmark 10-year bond was quoted at 100.09 rupees, with the yield holding steady at 6.7753 per cent. A rise in US Treasury yields dampened sentiment ahead of the holiday.
