This week, markets will take cues from key economic data, foreign investor activity, and global developments. Investors will keep a close watch on India’s inflation and industrial production numbers, along with global indicators like US CPI data, according to PTI report.
In addition to these, the Rupee’s performance against the Dollar and changes in Brent crude oil prices will play an important role in driving market sentiment.
Inflation, geopolitics, and global cues
Experts believe that while domestic factors like inflation will shape short-term market trends, global influences cannot be ignored. The Russia-Ukraine conflict continues to create uncertainties, but a weaker US dollar and lower bond yields are supporting emerging markets like India.
On the domestic front, inflation data and industrial production numbers will give investors a clearer picture of the economy. Global data, particularly US inflation, could hint at the Federal Reserve’s future policy stance.
Last week, both the Sensex and Nifty posted notable gains, with the Sensex jumping over 1,900 points. A key factor behind this rally was foreign institutional investors (FIIs), who turned buyers after months of selling. Large-cap banking stocks, which had taken a hit earlier, are now benefiting from this shift.
Global data in focus
Apart from domestic numbers, international developments will also be critical. Japan and the UK are set to release their GDP figures, while China will share its inflation data. This mix of domestic and global updates is likely to influence trading, said Siddhartha Khemka from Motilal Oswal Financial Services.
Ajit Mishra from Religare Broking added that FII inflows and macroeconomic indicators like inflation and industrial production will remain key drivers for the markets.
