Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres World Tour in Mumbai has sparked massive demand, driving up ticket resale prices on platforms like Viagogo. Tickets for the concert, scheduled for January 18, 19, and 21, 2025, at DY Patil Stadium, are being resold for exorbitant amounts. Prices range from Rs 32,000 to a staggering Rs 8.6 lakh per seat.

“BookMyShow has no association with any ticket selling/reselling platforms such as Viagogo and Gigsberg or third party individuals for the purpose of reselling of Coldplay's Music Of The Spheres World Tour 2025 in India,” the company said in a statement.

“Scalping is strictly condemned and punishable by law in India. We have filed a complaint with the police authorities and will provide complete support to them in the investigation of this matter. We urge you not to fall victim to these scams. Any tickets bought from unauthorised sources will be at the risk of the consumer, and can turn out to be fake tickets,” the statement added.

BookMyShow has been grappling with technical challenges due to the overwhelming demand, with many fans expressing frustration over long wait times and limited availability. Some have even reported being unable to secure tickets due to server issues. Social media is flooded with disappointed fans, with even celebrities like filmmaker Karan Johar reportedly missing out on tickets.

In response to scalping, BookMyShow condemned the practice, reiterating that reselling is illegal and punishable under Indian law. The company stressed the risks involved in purchasing tickets from unauthorised sources and vowed to support authorities in cracking down on these practices.

This isn't the first time the resale of concert tickets at inflated prices has come into the spotlight. Similar concerns were raised during previous high-profile events, but Coldplay’s Mumbai concerts have intensified the debate around scalping and its effect on genuine fans.
