RIL, HDFC…Top Indian Firms Witness Market Cap Shakeup: Who Gained and Who Lost?

The market capitalisation of six out of the ten most valuable Indian companies collectively rose by Rs 86,847.8 crore over the past week. HDFC Bank and Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) emerged as the biggest contributors to this growth.
This surge aligned with an overall bullish trend in the equity market. Both the Sensex and Nifty posted notable gains during the week. The BSE benchmark climbed 657.48 points (0.84%) and Nifty added 225.9 points (0.95%).
Top gainers and losers
Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, ITC, and Hindustan Unilever recorded positive growth in their valuations. In contrast, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys, State Bank of India (SBI), and Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) experienced a decline in their market worth.
- HDFC Bank- The bank's market cap jumped by Rs 20,235.95 crore, reaching Rs 13,74,945.30 crore.
- Reliance Industries- Added Rs 20,230.9 crore, taking its valuation to Rs 16,52,235.07 crore.
- ITC- Saw its valuation rise by Rs 17,933.49 crore to Rs 5,99,185.81 crore.
- ICICI Bank- Increased by Rs 15,254.01 crore, closing at Rs 9,22,703.05 crore.
- Bharti Airtel- Gained Rs 11,948.24 crore, now valued at Rs 9,10,735.22 crore.
- Hindustan Unilever- Added Rs 1,245.29 crore, bringing its market cap to Rs 5,49,863.10 crore.
On the downside, the week was not favorable for SBI, LIC, Infosys, and TCS.
- SBI- Lost Rs 11,557.39 crore in valuation, ending at Rs 7,13,567.99 crore.
- LIC- Declined by Rs 8,412.24 crore to Rs 5,61,406.80 crore.
- Infosys- Dropped by Rs 2,283.75 crore to Rs 7,95,803.15 crore.
- TCS- Marginally reduced by Rs 36.18 crore, settling at Rs15,08,000.79 crore.
Reliance Industries continues to hold its position as the most valued Indian firm, followed by TCS, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, Infosys, SBI, ITC, LIC, and Hindustan Unilever.
