Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. Speaking at the event, Modi highlighted the significant progress in India’s mobility landscape and emphasized that the industry is now "future-ready" to meet growing demand and challenges.
The Bharat Mobility Global Expo has expanded significantly this year, reflecting India’s growing position as a global leader in the automotive sector. Last year, over 800 exhibitors participated in the event, attracting more than 1.5 lakh visitors.
This year, the expo is being held across two locations: Bharat Mandapam and the Yashobhoomi in Dwarka, as well as the India Expo Centre in Greater Noida.
Speaking at the inauguration, PM Modi remarked, "This time, many new vehicles will be launched, and the industry is gearing up for a future that is full of potential." He expressed optimism about the future of mobility in India, praising the country’s readiness to take on global challenges in the sector.
India’s Position in the Global Automotive Market
PM Modi also pointed out the increasing demand for automobiles in India, noting that the sale of approximately 2.5 crore cars annually is a clear indicator of the sector’s growth. “We are now the third-largest passenger vehicle market in the world,” Modi stated, highlighting the significance of India’s auto industry on the global stage.
He attributed the rise in car sales to the improvement in infrastructure and the government’s commitment to easing travel for citizens. "Once, the reason for not buying cars in India was the lack of good-quality roads. This situation is changing. Ease of travel is India's priority," Modi said.
Remembering the Contributions of Ratan Tata and Osamu Suzuki
In a heartfelt tribute, PM Modi paid homage to two legends of the Indian automotive industry, Ratan Tata and Osamu Suzuki. "I want to remember Ratan Tata Ji and Osamu Suzuki on this occasion. Both of them have a huge contribution to the growth of India's auto sector and in fulfilling the middle-class dream,” said Modi. He expressed confidence that their legacy would continue to inspire the future of India's mobility sector.
Modi further reiterated the government's commitment to infrastructure development, emphasizing that more than ₹11 lakh crore was allocated in last year’s budget for enhancing the country’s infrastructure. This investment, he believes, will continue to support the automotive sector’s growth and encourage sustainable mobility solutions.
