A Bengaluru Instagram user has highlighted how quick-commerce platforms quote different prices for Apple and Android users.
Zepto Experiment : Price Disparity
A woman named Pooja Chhabda posted on Instagram revealing Zepto charges iPhone users more than twice the amount for the same products as Android users.
Chhabda took an iPhone and Android device side by side, where she was operating Zepto simultaneously. She showed that 500 gm of grapes on Android was Rs 65, while the same was Rs 146 on iPhone.
She also displayed Capsicum, which was listed at Rs 37 on Android and Rs 69 on iPhone.
The Bengaluru-based Instagram user expressed shock over the disparity.
The difference in price is based on the perceived purchasing power across demographics. It is believed that iPhone users have more disposable incomes.
Zepto Experiment : Users React
The post saw over 1,100 comments, One Instagram user commented, “I think the logic is when you can pay so much extra for the same features that are available on some Androids then you must be willing to pay extra for everything,”. Another said, “It’s a very serious issue and if this continues.. I will surely re-think about continuing with the Phone,”.
Another user said, “The price affect different accounts, probably the one on Android is a new account.”
