Google rolls out AI features to Chromebooks with new update
Google has announced a new version of ChromeOS that brings a slew of artificial intelligence-based features to Chromebook and Chromebook Plus devices worldwide.

Google is introducing features powered by artificial intelligence to Chromebooks through latest ChromeOS M130 update. Devices running newest version of ChromeOS will allow users to select various Focus modes, including a Do t Disturb setting, a new AI-driven Recorder app, a Quick Insert tool, and updated appearance effects.
New Focus modes in ChromeOS
With ChromeOS M130, Chromebooks w offer multiple modes to minimise distractions while working. new Focus option, accessible in Quick Settings, enables users to activate DND mode among or configurations designed to enhance productivity. “With Focus, you can easily set and modify your focus periods, toggle Do-t-Disturb (DND) mode, choose or create Google Tasks, and dive into specially curated playlists that help you concentrate better with focus sounds or a YouTube Music Premium subscription,” stated Google in a blog post.

New AI-powered Recorder app
recent ChromeOS update has replaced previous Recorder app with a new one, completely driven by AI capabilities. It can provide transcriptions with speaker labels and offer a summary of recorded material. “Our app extends beyond simple recording, featuring speech-to-text, content summarisation, and title recommendations, all enabled by Google AI,” company explained.
New Appearance effects
With this new update, Chromebooks will feature fresh appearance effects during video calls and virtual meetings, including those conducted through third-party applications. However, Google clarified that se new effects will be exclusive to Chromebook Plus models.

ChromeOS M130 update simplifies process for users to add emojis, symbols, GIFs, Google Drive links, calculations, and unit conversions via keyboard shortcut, Launcher + f, across all Chromebooks.

Google has also introduced improved brightness controls that automatically adjust, along with a manual setting to modify ambient light directly from Settings app. “This new option allows you to set your screen brightness perfectly and toggle ambient light sensor on or off as required in Settings,” ted Google. Furrmore, company is launching a new AI-driven reading feature that scans content displayed on screen within both web browser and Gallery app to provide text summaries. It also invites users to participate in a Q&A session where y can pose specific questions. Similar to new appearance effects, AI reading feature will be exclusive to Chromebook Plus devices.
