Golden badge gets cheaper: Social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, has rolled out a more economical ‘Verified Organisations Basic’ tier plan priced at $200 per month or $2,000 annually. This move comes in contrast to its previous premium offering priced at $1,000 per month for ‘full access,’ which included a gold checkmark badge and additional benefits.

While the new tier aims to cater to smaller businesses by offering features such as ad credits and priority support, industry observers view this development as a strategic shift in response to pricing critiques. The more accessible pricing structure suggests that the higher-cost plan may not have garnered the anticipated uptake among businesses.

Golden badge retained

The ‘Verified Organisations Basic’ tier will also have the gold checkmark badge, a symbol of brand authenticity on the platform. Beyond the badge, subscribers can also use prioritised customer support and promotional ad credits.

This revised pricing strategy by X underlines a nuanced approach to its monetisation model, potentially widening its user base among emerging businesses and organisations.

X is recalibrating their offerings to strike a balance between revenue generation and user inclusivity. The introduction of this affordable tier may increase the number of paid subscribers.
