iPhone 16 to stand out: Apple is gearing up for the launch of its next flagship iPhone models next month. While the date is not out yet, the next-generation iPhone devices may debut sometime during the second week of September. The launch may just be a few days away, but we have already been treated to what the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models will be like, thanks to the deluge of leaks and reports. Adding to the rumour mill, a new leak has now suggested detailed information about the camera specifications of the upcoming iPhone models.

Apple Insider has reported the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro devices will come with significant changes, including a new camera mode to offer more convenience when shooting macros. The report mentioned the ultrawide camera will have a wider aperture, allowing users to capture macro shots. The iPhone 16 Pro will have cameras with better optical zoom capabilities and an upgraded ultrawide camera for group shots and macros. Here is a breakdown of everything new coming to the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max, per the new report.

New camera specifications on iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus

According to the report, Apple has made a small but useful improvement in the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus – the company’s vanilla devices that have sold for the same price each year. They are also among the most-selling devices due to their lower costs than the Pro models. If you have been waiting for the iPhone 16 duo and its camera performance is a priority, you can expect the following:

– the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus could come with a better 12MP ultrawide camera with a wider F2.2 aperture compared to F2.4 on the iPhone 15’s ultrawide camera. This could allow more light to enter the sensor, resulting in better low-light photos. This could also allow the sensor to capture macros through a new macro mode, which has been available exclusively on the Pro models.
– the iPhone 16 duo’s main camera may continue to feature the 48MP sensor, similar to the one you get on the iPhone 15. While the report does not talk about whether or not Apple has added features for the main camera, you can expect its performance to be better than the predecessor. The optical zoom, however, may still be 2x for the primary camera.
– iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus’ rear cameras may now be vertically stacked instead of the diagonal alignment, which has been persistent on the past few generations.

What about the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max?

The Pro models – the most expensive ones – get the best features, more so because Apple is gradually widening the gap between them and the vanilla models. The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, thus, will feature significant camera upgrades. You can expect the duo to come with the following additions:

– the 12MP telephoto camera on the iPhone 16 Pro may now offer 5x optical zoom. Last year, the feature was exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
– both models could sport a 48MP main sensor with an F1.78 aperture, capable of capturing 12MP (pixel-binned) photos with 2x optical zoom.
– their ultrawide cameras may now feature a 48MP sensor, up from the 12MP available on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. This sensor could allow capturing shots at full 48MP mode or 12MP pixel-binned mode, along with offering users the ability to shoot ultrawide shots in 48MP ProRaw mode.
