WhatsApp may soon let you filter chats according to your own lists
Since the new custom filters feature is part of the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android, only testers can access it.
WhatsApp’s new feature: The Meta-owned messaging app is working on another feature to make the chatting experience better. A new report has suggested that WhatsApp is adding more ways to filter your chat though custom filters. In other words, you could soon create custom filters for your chats other than the preset ones, namely, ‘All’, ‘Unread’, ‘Favorites’, and ‘Groups’.
WABetaInfo has reported that the latest WhatsApp beta for Android version brings the ability to add custom filters to find chats more conveniently. This could be helpful when you have a particular criterion to search for a chat. The custom filter will be available next to existing labels and allow you to see individual and group chats matching the custom label. For instance, you could create a filter called ‘Family’ to immediately bring up chats, including the group conversations, from family members.
Who can access it currently?
Since the new feature is part of the latest beta version of WhatsApp, only testers can access it. The report said the WhatsApp beta for Android with version number 2.24.18.16 has the feature, but whether every beta tester can access the functionality is unclear. In any case, the feature is expected to make it to the stable version soon, giving everyone access to the custom label functionality.
Meanwhile, the chat app is expanding the functionality to create lists in multiple sections to let you organise chats and contacts better. WhatsApp is working on the ability to create lists and add both persons and groups for a more organised and efficient way to handle contacts and group conversations. The WhatsApp watchdog previously reported that the list functionality is also currently under testing as part of the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.18.9 update. This feature is available to testers currently, but WhatsApp is likely to roll it to stable users in the coming days.
