WhatsApp Web down: WhatsApp Web, the web-based messaging service owned by Meta, appears to be experiencing an outage that has affected several users. Many have taken to various social media platforms to report disruptions, stating that they are unable to send messages or connect to the WhatsApp web servers. The issue began around 9 AM and worsened after more than an hour.

According to Downdetector, a website that tracks online service disruptions, users in India reported problems with WhatsApp Web on Monday morning, indicating difficulties accessing the chat app's web version across different browsers. At the time of writing, 57 per cent of users reported issues accessing WhatsApp Web, while 34 per cent flagged problems with the mobile app. However, it remains unclear whether the outage is affecting the Android or iOS versions of the app.

It is worth noting that the ongoing WhatsApp Web outage is affecting a small number of users in India. At the peak of the outage, around 33 users reported issue with the platform. This number is going down slowly as the company seems to be resolving the issue that led to this outage in India.

WhatsApp Web outage: What is Meta saying?

Mark Zuckerberg owned Meta, the company that owns WhatsApp, has not acknowledged or commented on the ongoing outage, indicating that it may not be a severe outage and that it could be resolved soon.

WhatsApp outages in 2024

It is worth noting that this is not the first outage that WhatsApp has faced this year. A major outage affected WhatsApp's services globally this year in March. It was followed by a second major outage in April 2024. Both the outages not only affected WhatsApp's services, but also its sister platforms, which includes Instagram, Facebook and Facebook Messenger. During these outages, users of Meta's services were unable to access its platform and use their services.
