SpaceX’s Mars mission: SpaceX is gearing up to launch its first uncrewed Starships to Mars within the next two years, aligning with the upcoming Earth-Mars transfer window. This announcement was made by SpaceX CEO Elon Musk in a recent social media post on X.

Musk stated, "These initial missions will be uncrewed to test our ability to land on Mars safely." He further elaborated that if these landings are successful, SpaceX aims to initiate crewed flights to Mars within four years.

Mars city in 20 years

Looking ahead, Musk envisions an exponential increase in flight frequency, with the goal of establishing a self-sustaining city on Mars in about two decades.

Previously, in April, Musk had projected that the first uncrewed Starship would land on Mars within five years, with the inaugural crewed mission expected to follow within seven years.

In June, SpaceX achieved a milestone when a Starship rocket completed a full global test mission, surviving a high-speed re-entry and successfully landing in the Indian Ocean on its fourth attempt.

Musk is pinning his hopes on Starship to achieve his vision of creating a versatile next-generation spacecraft. This craft is intended to facilitate missions to the moon later this decade and ultimately support crewed trips to Mars.
