New Galaxy S24 series phone: Samsung is reportedly working on a fourth smartphone in the Galaxy S24 series, the Galaxy S24 FE (Fan Edition). The Fan Edition phones have traditionally been trimmed-down versions of the base model, mostly arriving a few months after the debut of the series they belong to. Since the Galaxy S24 series arrived in January, the company is likely planning a launch of the Galaxy S24 FE in the coming weeks. Earlier reports suggested the launch may happen sometime in late September or early October. The phone has now received an important certification from a regulator.

The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has granted Samsung certification for its upcoming smartphone with model number SM-S72U. The same device was earlier spotted on the Geekbench benchmarking website, and it is reportedly the Galaxy S24 FE. The fact that the FCC has approved the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE for the American market confirms the launch is impending. Samsung has not officially said anything about the phone, but its listings on several certification and benchmarking websites have revealed key details, including its processor information.

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE expected specifications

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE may come with an underclocked Exynos 2400 processor, the regular version of which powers the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ phones. The phone’s Geekbench listing revealed there may be an AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, triple cameras with one telephoto sensor, and even an IP rating for resistance against dust and water splashes. Other specifications of the smartphone include Wi-Fi 6E for better wireless internet connectivity, wireless charging on the battery with support for reverse wireless charging for accessories at up to 9W speed. The FCC listing has revealed the phone will measure 162 x 77.3mm (height x width) but does not say how thick it would be.
