Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset launched for mid-range smartphones: Check details

Qualcomm has quietly launched the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 system-on-chip (SoC) for mid-range smartphones. The newly launched Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 (SoC) succeeded the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 that was announced back in September 2022. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset comes with an upgraded core, better camera capabilities, 5G connectivity and artificial intelligence (AI) based capabilities.

As far as availability is concerned, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset will be powering mid-range smartphones in India and across the globe. However, the chipmaker is yet to share details pertaining to the available of smartphones powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset.

That said, reports suggest that smartphones powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset will be available for purchase in the final quarter of 2024.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset features and specifications

As far as features are concerned, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 SoC has been designed using the 6nm process. It comes with the Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ technology, which the company says is capable of charging a device by up to 50 percent in just 15 minutes while extending battery life cycles.

Additionally, this newly launched chipset comes with the Qualcomm AI Engine, which is capable of providing advanced AI-based features such as voice recognition and intelligent camera features. It also features a low-power, always-aware
Qualcomm Sensing Hub for increased security, and multi-mic far-field detection and echo cancellation for clarity during calls.

Coming to specifications, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 supports full HD+ display a screen refresh rate of up to 120Hz and a screen resolution of 1080 x 2520 pixels. It runs 64-bit Kryo CPU that is coupled with Adreno GPU, upto 2133Mhz LPDDR4x RAM, and support for UFS 2.2 storage. On the camera front, this chipset features support for up to 108MP photo capture feature and Up to 25MP + 13MP dual camera feature with 30fps zero shutter lag. It also supports 1080p single video capture at 60fps.

On the connectivity front, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 supports Qualcomm FastConnect 6200 System for connectivity. It supports Bluetooth version 5.2 and dual-band Wi-Fi support. It also supports Qualcomm TrueWireless Technology, Qualcomm aptX Adaptive Audio. For connectivity, it also has GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo and NavIC. This chipset has Snapdragon X51 5G Modem-RF System for 5G connectivity.

In terms of audio, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 has support for Qualcomm AI-Based Echo Cancellation and Noise Suppression Snapdragon Voice Activation, Qualcomm Aqstic smart speaker amplifier and Snapdragon Voice Activation to name a few.
