PM Modi to meet top semiconductor players in his 2-day Singapore visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet with Singapore counterpart Lawrence Wong during a two-day visit to Singapore. He will also interact with the top semiconductor players in the country.

PM Modi's two-day Singapore visit: Minister Narendra Modi will meet with Singapore counterpart Lawrence Wong during a two-day visit to the city-state Singapore. During his two-day visit which begins on Wednesday, PM Modi will also meet Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and former Prime Ministers Lee Hsien Loong and Goh Chok Tong. In addition to meeting the country's top officials, he will also participate in a business round-table with local business leaders and meet semiconductor players.

Talking about visit to Singapore, which is his first visit since 2018, the Prime Minister said that he plans to deepen India's partnership with Singapore especially in the areas such as advanced manufacturing and sustainable development.

"I look forward to my discussions to deepen our Strategic Partnership with Singapore, particularly in new and emerging areas of advanced manufacturing, digitalization, and sustainable development," PM Modi said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Additionally, PM Modi is expected to sign several memorandums (MoUs) during his visit to Singapore. Key areas PM Modi will be focussing on include connectivity, advanced manufacturing, digitisation, skill develpment, sustainability and health.

"Both countries are important partners in our Act East Policy and the Indo-Pacific Vision. I am confident that my visits would further strengthen our partnership with Brunei, Singapore and the larger ASEAN region," he added. 

Prior to Singapore, PM Modi will visit Brunei. “Looking forward to strong ties between our nations, especially in boosting commercial and cultural linkages. I thank Crown Prince His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah for welcoming me at the airport,” he wrote in a post on X.

PM Modi will be accompanied by Indian government officials including the Foreign Minister and National Security Advisor.
