PM Modi meets tech CEOs: Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in a roundtable with the CEOs of the top tech companies, including Google and Alphabet Inc CEO Sundar Pichai, on the third day of his three-day visit to the US.
During the CEOs roundtable, which was hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) School of Engineering in New York, PM Modi discussed the potential and opportunities offered by India in a variety of fields ranging from semiconductors and electronics to biotechnology. In addition to this, PM Modi also discussed ways to enhance cooperation between India and the US in the field of artificial Intelligence (AI) and quantum computing.
"Had a fruitful roundtable with tech CEOs in New York, discussing aspects relating to technology, innovation and more. Also highlighted the strides made by India in this field. I am glad to see immense optimism towards India," PM Modi said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
Among those who attended the CEOs roundtable in New York were Google and Alphabet Inc CEO Sundar Pichai, Adobe CEO and Chairman Shantanu Narayen, IBM CEO Arvind Krishna, AMD CEO and Chair Lisa Su and Moderna Chairman Noubar Afeyan.
India to become semiconductor hub
Meanwhile, addressing the Indian diaspora in New York, PM Modi said that India no longer lags behind but it creates new systems and leads the way. "Bharat has introduced the world to a new concept of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI). DPI has promoted equality and become a powerful tool in reducing corruption. Bharat's UPI is now capturing the world's attention. While you may have a wallet in your pocket, in Bharat, people have both physical wallets and e-wallets on their phones," he said while addressing a gathering over over 15,000 India people at an event in Long Island, New York.
He also talked about India's vision of becoming a chip-making powerhouse. "Bharat envisions a future where as many global devices as possible operate on Made-in-India chips. We have made the semiconductor sector the foundation of Bharat's accelerated growth, PM Modi said.
"The day is not far when you will see Made-in-India chips here in America as well," he added.
