Swiggy is now offering free delivery services for Instamart customers in the National Capital Region, which includes New Delhi, Noida, and Gurugram. Swiggy Instamart users won't require a Swiggy One subscription to receive free deliveries in qualifying areas where the company promises to deliver "thousands of products within 10-15 minutes."

The free delivery service in NCR will apply to orders during the daytime and night, which includes the hours between 11 PM and 6 AM. “ Swiggy Instamart has observed that the demand for essentials not only continues but increases once the shutters go down in the late hours, especially during the bustling festive season filled with last-minute preparations,” the company said in a release.

With the launch, Swiggy Instamart has become the first quick commerce company to offer deliveries of groceries and other daily items without a delivery fee. The company told Republic that free deliveries will not require a Swiggy One subscription in NCR. However, the company has not specified if free deliveries will need customers to meet a minimum order amount.

Based on the customer feedback, “consumer demand, and operational feasibility” in NCR, Swiggy Instamart will expand the service to “other major cities.” Swiggy Instamart announced the expansion of quick deliveries in 11 more cities, taking the total to 43 ahead of the festive season. Instamart is now available in Amritsar, Bhopal, Kanpur, Ludhiana, Mangalore, Rajkot, Salem, Thrissur, Udaipur, Varanasi, and Warangal. Its Zomato -owned rival, Blinkit , is available in 40 cities instead.

The free Instamart delivery launch comes days after Swiggy received the regulator’s nod for the highly-anticipated Initial Public Offering ( IPO ). The Securities and Exchange Board of India gave Swiggy permission to go ahead with its IPO plan. The food delivery company recently filed its draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) with the capital market regulator to raise funds through shares worth Rs 3,750 crore and an offer-for-sale (OFS) component of 18.53 crore equity shares. If it pans out in the company’s favour, the IPO will take the company’s valuation to $15 billion, up from the current $10.7 billion after the last funding round led by asset manager Invesco.
