Apple Music now lets you transfer playlist to YouTube Music: How to use this feature

Apple Music playlist transfer: Apple isn't exactly known for being an interoperability friendly company. But in a surprising move, the company has introduced a new mechanism that can be used by Apple Music users to take all their playlists to YouTube Music when they migrate from Apple to Google.

Apple has also updated its support page to help Apple Music users through this process. The company says that interested users can head over to Apple's Data and Privacy page to request transfer the playlists made in Apple Music to YouTube Music. Apple also says that Apple users need an active Apple Music or iTunes Match subscription along with an active YouTube Music account to transfer their playlists from one platform to another.

That said, Apple Music users cannot transfer all their data to YouTube Music. The company has put some conditions on the kind of content Apple Music users can transfer to YouTube Music. For instance, Apple Music users can only transfer collaborative playlists created by them to YouTube Music. They cannot transfer separate music files, curated playlists and folder organised in Apple Music to YouTube Music. Also, they cannot transfer other audio files such as podcasts, audio books, or user-uploaded audio files even if they are a part of a playlist to Google's YouTube Music.

Here is a step-by-step guide of how you can transfer your Apple Music playlist to YouTube Music:

Step 1: Go to Apple's Data and Privacy page.

Step 2: Sign in to your Apple ID account.

Step 3: Now select the 'Transfer a copy of your data' option.

Step 4: Sign in to your YouTube Music account.

Step 5: Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

It is worth noting that Apple will send an email notification to the email addresses associated with a user's Apple ID account when the transfer begins. Users will receive a confirmation email from Apple when the transfer is complete.
