Apple hacks: How to transfer photos, videos from Google Photos to iCloud Photos

Google Photos users can transfer all their images and videos to iCloud Photos without losing any data. Here's a step-by-step guide for the same.

Google Photos to iCloud Photos image transfer: Google and Apple aren't exactly known for playing nice with each other. But on rare occasions, the two company do keep aside their differences to promote interoperability among apps. Case and Point, the feature that allows smartphone users to transfer their data from Android's Google Photos to Apple's iCloud Photos. This feature makes it easier for users to switch ecosystems or move from an Android smartphone to an iPhone without worrying about their images and videos.

So, here is a step-by-step guide that will enable Android users to transfer all their images and videos from Google Photos to iCloud Photos:

Google Photos to iCloud Photos: Pre-requisites

Before users begin transferring photos and videos from Google Photos to iCloud Photos, users need to ensure iCloud Photos is turned on and that they have ample iCloud storage.

To turn on iCloud Photos on iPhone users need to follow this path: open the Settings app > tap the Profile Name > tap iCloud > tap Photos and then tap the switch next to Sync this device option.

Google Photos to iCloud Photos: How to transfer all your images, videos

Step 1: Go to Google Takeout.

Step 2: Select Google Photos under the 'Choose the data you want to copy' section.

Step 3: Then tap the Continue button.

Step 4: Enter the password for your Google Account and then tap the Continue button to complete the process.

Step 5: In the 'Select the third-party service you want to move your copy to' select Apple -iCloud Photos and tap the Continue button.

Step 6: Now sign into your Apple account by typing your Email ID or phone number and your password.

Step 7: Enter the Apple Account Verification Code displayed on the iPhone on the PC.

Step 8: In the screen that follows, tap the Allow button to give Google Takeout permission to transfer images and videos from Google Photos to iCloud Photos.

Apple will send users a notification when the process of transferring photos and videos starts and when it ends. This notification will be displayed in the email account associated with the Apple Account.

It is worth noting that users will be able to access all the images and videos transferred from Google Photos in an album called 'Import from Google' in iCloud Photos.
