Apple updates AirPods 4 with hearing aid capability at 'It's Glowtime' event

Apple Event 2024: Apple has just concluded the most anticipated event of the year, to date, with a slew of announcements at an 'It's Glowtime' event held in Cupertino, California. Besides the highly anticipated iPhone 16 and the new versions of Apple Watch, the tech giant has announced the launch of the latest generation AirPods. It has a sleek new high-tech design and came with even more advanced features. For the first time, Apple streamed the event live on Apple's official YouTube channel, unleashing the new AirPods 4, which, according to Apple, should be the most comfortable iteration of the AirPods ever.

The brand-new AirPods 4 would introduce a smaller, lighter USB-C charging case with up to 30 hours of battery life. These earbuds would also include some form of machine learning technology, enabling users to control Siri by nodding and shaking their head and voice isolation features that would cancel any sort of background noise.

But one of the major new updates is a new acoustic architecture, which means richer bass and crystal-clear highs, added to by personalised Spatial Audio for an immersive listening experience. There will be two models for the AirPods 4: regular AirPods 4 and a pricier version with Active Noise Cancellation.

Advanced Charging and Health Features

Plus Qi wireless charging and MagSafe, Apple even updated its premium AirPods Max in midnight, blue, purple, orange, and starlight. These headphones now support USB-C charging.

One of the significant highlights that stole the show at the launch was that new health features were introduced in the AirPods Pro, along with Apple 's H2 chip. Other features include hearing protection that reduces loud noise down to an adequate decibel to protect the ears of its users. Eartips reduce ambient noise passively, while active noise cancellation further improves hearing protection.

Apple also announced that Hearing Aid mode will soon be available with AirPods Pro 2 in over 100 regions. This feature enables the AirPods Pro to be personalised as hearing aids through the results of a hearing test and provides a very practical solution for hard-of-hearing individuals via a software update.
