Reliance AGM 2024: Jio PhoneCall AI service announced for recording, transcribing calls

Reliance AGM 2024: Reliance Industries hosted its 47th Annual General Meeting or the AGM today. At the annual event, Akash Ambani announced a new service that Jio is developing. The new service is dubbed as Jio PhoneCall AI and it uses artificial intelligence (AI) to record calls and transcribe them.

As Ambani explained, the Jio PhoneCall AI services can record and store any call in Jio Cloud and automatically transcribe it. In addition to transcribing a call, it can also summarise a call, making it easier for users to go through the key points discussed in a long call or a call that they missed.

"We call this service Jio Phonecall AI, which lets you use AI with every phone call...This allows anyone to easily capture and access important voice conversations, making them searchable, shareable, and understandable across languages—all with just a few clicks," Ambani said at the AGM 2024.

How does Jio PhoneCall AI work?

Jio PhoneCall AI uses a separate number, which can be added to an ongoing call. Once the Jio PhoneCall AI is added to a call, users will hear a welcome message, post which they can start recording and transcribing any call.

"Once you hear the welcome message, press #1 to start recording and transcribing the call. Now you can begin your conversation," Ambani explained.

Users can pause the transcription at any point by pressing #2 and resume it again later by pressing #1. They can use #3 to end the transcription.

Whether you're in a one-on-one call, a group conference, or even just making personal notes, Jio Phonecall AI can be your go-to solution for seamless call recording and transcription," he added.

How will using Jio PhoneCall AI benefit users?

Besides helping users go through the contents of a call that they missed or want to revisit, it will also benefit users with hearing issues.

"Another exciting aspect of Jio Phonecall AI is the inclusivity it brings to millions of our citizens who are hearing impaired. By converting spoken words into text, it ensures that they can stay connected, and not left out of important discussions," Ambani added.
