Vembu emphasised not focusing on bad government and bad policies rhetoric. He also highlighted that Indian entrepreneurs are not the only ones who have to face certain hurdles.
"Short answer: India can do it, and it's not that hard. And let's not do this 'reservation bad, government bad' etc. Chinese entrepreneurs never had it easy, and still don’t have it easy. We can do this in India. We WILL do this in India," his post states.
The DeepSeek Issue
Earlier this week, a China-based startup, DeepSeek, sent shockwaves through the tech world with the launch of its groundbreaking AI chatbot. Its rapid rise in popularity has rattled even the largest American tech companies like Google and Microsoft.
DeepSeek has been praised for developing its AI model at a significantly lower cost compared to many established brands. It offers more free features than its competitors, while its paid subscription is priced far more affordably than other AI chatbots.
In the wake of China's rapid advancement in the AI space, the question once again erupted across neighboring India: “Why can't we create something like this? Why haven't we developed our own Google or Facebook?”
In response to these questions, Sridhar Vembu retweeted a post on his social media offering a compelling perspective. It states," What we need is a mentality that treats this skillset as existential. We need a national fund that will fund such teams and the only expected output will be benchmark performance with benchmarks becoming harder every 6 months . No revenue needed to survive for first 3 years."
