'Supari... Economic Terrorism' - BJP Spokesperson Hails Hindenburg Closure
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla slammed Hindenburg Research as an instrument of “economic terrorism” against India’s growth.
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla has described the closure of US-based short-seller Hindenburg Research as a victory for India’s economic resilience.
Known for its explosive reports, Hindenburg’s allegations against the Adani Group led to massive market disruptions and drew international scrutiny on the Indian conglomerate.
Reacting to the news, Poonawalla remarked, “Hindenburg report was 'supari' taken against India's rising economic power. This report was a sponsored, organised, orchestrated, and manipulated act of economic anarchism and economic terrorism.”
He also added that Rahul Gandhi is an international alliance partner for Hindenburg.
“Rahul Gandhi, your international alliance partner Hindenburg has shut its shop. Now, when will you stop your propaganda against India?” He further questioned the Congress party’s alleged links to the report, asking, “Was it a Soros-sponsored report? Today, Congress should clarify and apologise. Congress and its eco-system are anti-national,” He added.
Hindenburg’s Controversial Legacy
Hindenburg Research, led by founder Nate Anderson, made waves for its investigative reports alleging corporate misconduct. Its 2023 report on the Adani Group accused the conglomerate of using offshore tax havens improperly, wiping out billions in market value. Adani and his companies have consistently denied these claims.
Beyond Adani, Hindenburg’s investigations led to nearly 100 individuals being charged civilly or criminally by regulators. Anderson called his team “incredible” and “ruthless assassins” for their investigative prowess.
Anderson’s Reasons for Shutting Down
Nate Anderson’s decision to close Hindenburg was driven by personal priorities rather than external pressures. “At a certain point, a successful career becomes a selfish act,” he said, expressing a desire to focus on family and personal growth. He revealed plans to release open-source materials detailing Hindenburg’s investigative methods over the next six months.
