Sridhar Vembu, CEO, Zoho posted on X, mourning the loss of his friend's son, named Jeyesh Ram who died in a para-gliding accident. Vembu also criticized the lack of safety and regulatory measures in the adventure sports category of India.

Vembu On Ram's Demise

“Yesterday I had the very sad duty to attend the funeral of Jeyesh Ram, 27 year 27-year-old son of my dear friend Cibi Anand and Priya. He lost his life in a para-gliding accident in Kulu, Himachal Pradesh last Friday.”

Vembu added that way too many accidents happen with sickening regulations there and that he is deeply saddened that Jeyesh became the latest statistic. “Much stronger regulatory oversight required here.”,Vembu said.

He had invested in Jeyesh's venture Tools Hub, a fast-growing hardware retail store franchise. His father Anand suggested the name Karuvi and it was Tools Hub distributor Abdul Gafoor, a long-time Zoho customer and good friend of Anand who suggested the idea of Karuvi to them.

"Jeyesh was a dashing young man, very kind to his employees and all those around him. He had the world ahead of him.", Vembu added.

Vembu added that Jeyesh was a risk-taker. He hopes that young people, particularly young men, avoid bad risks like this.

He added that he hopes his death does not go in vain and regulators take a good look at this.

“All of us came together to bid tearful farewell to Jeyesh yesterday.  Om Shanti 🙏”, Vembu concluded in his post.

Vembu On Ram's Demise : X Users Echo Sentiments

The users on X agreed with Vembu's stance on lack of safety measures in adventure sports. One user wrote, “Not only Kulu, nowhere in India adventure sports is suitable! The disregard for human life and safety norms is strikingly visible. And the perpetrators get away easily, often.”

Another wrote,"Long way to go enforcing safety protocols and making organizers pay for it dearly upon a lapse both preventive and actual occurrence of an accident. Even the elevators in most buildings are not checked periodically and a certificate of last inspection date and done by is not displayed."
