Samajwadi Party Exits Maha Vikas Aghadi - SP- MVA saga Top Developments

Maha Vikas Aghadi split: The Samajwadi Party (SP), led by Abu Azmi, announced its withdrawal from the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance in Maharashtra on Saturday, citing communal comments made by a Shiv Sena (UBT) leader.

This decision follows recent controversy triggered by Milind Narvekar, a senior Shiv Sena (UBT) member and close aide to Uddhav Thackeray, who publicly supported the demolition of the Babri Masjid.

Narvekar also posted a newspaper advertisement praising those involved in the controversial event, along with photos of Uddhav Thackeray, Aaditya Thackeray, and himself.

In response, Abu Azmi expressed his dissatisfaction, saying, "We are quitting the MVA because Shiv Sena (UBT) has endorsed the Babri Masjid demolition. This language is unacceptable. I am in talks with Akhilesh Yadav about our future course."

Azmi also criticised the lack of coordination within the opposition alliance, especially regarding the distribution of election tickets in the recent assembly polls. He further urged Congress to reassess its ties with the Uddhav Thackeray faction, questioning how they could continue to support a party that endorses such divisive rhetoric.

"If the MVA continues with such statements, there’s no difference between them and the BJP. Congress must decide whether they want to ally with a party that promotes this kind of language," Azmi added.

Meanwhile, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar maintained that the central leadership of the Samajwadi Party remains committed to Opposition unity, despite the exit.
