The Indian Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has had a year full of achievements in 2024. The Modi government has actively supported these developments to actualise its Viksit Bharat dream.
Ram Mandir
The Modi-led government inaugurated the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya on January 22, 2024 after a 'pran pratishtha' (consecration) ceremony.
The Ram Mandir is reportedly constructed at the site of Ram Janmabhoomi, which is the mythical birthplace of the Hindu God Rama.
This had become a principal issue for all Hindus in the country due to a communal conflict between Hindus and Muslims as the temple was the former location of the Babri Masjid mosque, built between 1528 and 1529. Reportedly, the idols of Rama were placed in the same location in 1949, before it was attacked and demolished in 1922, as mentioned in the book 'Ayodhya Revisited' by Kishore Kunal, who was a 1972 batch Indian Police Services officer of Gujarat Cadre, appointed as Officer on Special Duty on the Ayodhya dispute, by then PM V.P. Singh.
A court ruling in 2010 divided the land between Hindus and Muslims, but that decision was overturned in 2019 by the Supreme Court of India, which entrusted the site exclusively to Hindus and directed the state to grant an alternate site in Ayodhya to the Muslim community, according to Britannica.
This was a historic milestone for 25 crore Indians.
Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Yojana
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also announced the expansion of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Yojana (AB PM-JAY) to include all senior citizens aged 70 years and above.
Ever since the card was launched, treatments worth more than ₹40 crore were availed by 22,000 senior citizens over 70 years of age, the Health Ministry had said in a statement in December, 2024.
Ayushman Bharat Vaya Vandana Yojana as part of AB PM-JAY helps senior citizens get the Ayushman Bharat Vaya Vandana Card and with the help of this card senior citizens can avail all of these facilities.
Additionally, the government has also achieved the milestone of getting 25 lakh people enrolled for these cards.
