RBI Portfolio Reshuffle: Central Bank Gives Key Portfolios To 3 Deputy Governors - List
Each of the Deputy Governors has been assigned multiple portfolios, effective from January 15, 2025.
The Reserve Bank of India, on Tuesday, announced new portfolios for deputy governors and put M Rajeshwar Rao in charge of the Monetary Policy Department. The move comes after the tenure of Michael Debabrata Patra ended on Tuesday.
Each of the Deputy Governors has been assigned multiple portfolios, effective from January 15, 2025. M. Rajeshwar Rao will be responsible for overseeing a wide range of departments, including Co-ordination, Communication, Economic and Policy Research, Regulation, Statistics and Information Management, Enforcement, International, Legal, Monetary Policy, Risk Monitoring, and the Secretary’s Department. T. Rabi Sankar will manage crucial areas such as Currency Management, External Investments & Operations, Government and Bank Accounts, Information Technology, Payment and Settlement Systems, Fintech, Financial Markets Operations, Financial Markets Regulation, Foreign Exchange, Human Resource Management, Internal Debt Management, and the Right to Information (RIA) Division. Meanwhile, Swaminathan Janakiraman will take charge of departments focused on Consumer Education and Protection, Corporate Strategy and Budget, Supervision, Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation, Financial Inclusion and Development, Financial Stability, Inspection, Premises, and Rajbhasha.
