Constitution Debate | In Lok Sabha, PM Narendra Modi says, "The then PM, Pandit Nehru had written a letter to Chief Ministers. In his letter, he wrote - "if the Constitution comes in the way…we must make change in the Constitution at any cost." Nehru ji wrote this in a letter to CMs. In 1951, this sin was committed. But the country was not silent. The then President Dr Rajendra Prasad alerted him that it is wrong. The then Speaker also told him that what he is doing is wrong. Great Congress leaders like Acharya Kriplani, and Jayprakash Narayan alerted Pandit Nehru. But Pandit Nehru had his own Constitution. That is why, he neglected the suggestions of such senior leaders..."

Constitution Debate | In Lok Sabha, PM Narendra Modi says, "Highs and lows occurred, there were difficulties too, there were obstacles as well. But I bow before the people of the country once again that they strongly stood with the Constitution...  I do not want to make personal criticism on anyone but it is important to place facts before the country. That is why, I would like to do that. One family of Congress left no stone unturned in hurling a blow to the Constitution. I am mentioning that one family because in 75 years of our journey, they ruled for 55 years. So, the country has the right to know what happened. The tradition of this family's ill-thoughts, bad policies is ongoing continuously. This family has challenged the Constitution at all levels."

Constitution Debate | In Lok Sabha, PM Narendra Modi says, "This country didn't have an elected government from 1947 to 1952. A temporary system, a selected government was in place. Elections were not held. An interim government was in place until the elections. Before 1952, the Rajya Sabha was also not formed. There were no elections in states as well. There was no mandate by the people... In 1951, when there wasn't an elected government, he amended the Constitution through an Ordinance. Right to Express was attacked... This was an insult to Constitution makers... As soon as he saw an opportunity, he dealt a blow to Right to Express. This was a grave insult to Constitution makers. What could not be facilitated in the Constituent Assembly, he facilitated that through the back door and that too when he was not the PM of an elected government. He committed a sin."

In a scathing attack on the Congress party, PM Narendra Modi cited several instances when the first family of the Congress party ‘insulted’ the Constitution. Without naming Rahul Gandhi, PM Modi cited how the Gandhi family scion tore the decision taken by the Union Cabinet and highlighted how an extra-constitutional body in the form of the National Advisory Council was created ‘above’ the Prime Minister of India.

Speaking in the Lok Sabha, PM Narendra Modi, on Saturday said that despite warnings by the then President, and legendary leaders of the party, Pt Jawaharlal Nehru changed the Constitution of India.  'Panditji Ka Apna Samvidhaan chalta tha...' - PM Narendra Modi said.

One family of the Congress party left no stone unturned in hurting the Constitution of India, PM Narendra Modi said in a scathing attack on the Gandhi family. "On every level, this family challenged the Constitution," says PM Narendra Modi.

Constitution Debate | In Lok Sabha, PM Narendra Modi says, "India's democracy, its republican past has been very prosperous. This has been an inspiration and that is why today, India is known as the Mother of Democracy. We are not just a large democracy but also the Mother of Democracy."

"Constitution makers were aware. They didn't believe that India was born in 1947, that democracy in India started in 1950. They believed in the great tradition and culture here, they believed in the great heritage, in the thousands of years of the journey - they were aware..." - PM Modi says.

 Speaking during a discussion on the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India, PM Narendra Modi says - "For all of us, for all citizens and for all democracy-loving citizens across the world, this is a moment of great pride..."

"It is time to celebrate the Constitution of the democracy," says PM Modi as he speaks on the Constitution of India.

Leaders of the Opposition and INDI Alliance enter the Parliament ahead of PM Narendra Modi's speech in the Lok Sabha. Top ministers including Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju and others are already inside the Parliament.

PM Narendra Modi will be speaking in Lok Sabha shortly from now. According to sources, PM Modi's speech in the Lok Sabha is expected to begin at 6 pm. 

"Hon'ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji will speak in Lok Sabha today during the discussion on “75 Years Glorious Journey of Constitution of India. Raksha Mantri @rajnathsingh Ji initiated the discussion yesterday. The discussion will begin at 11 am,” Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said earlier in a post on X.

PM Narendra Modi is speaking in Parliament today during the debate on the Constitution. Earlier during the day, Congress MP and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi spoke in the Lok Sabha.
