Maharashtra Elections 2024: Mahayuti Set To Return: 10 Key Schemes To Expect Under New Government

In the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly Elections, the Mahayuti alliance, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction), and their allies, appears poised to secure a decisive mandate. Early trends and exit polls suggest a return to power.

As the Mahayuti stares at yet another decisive mandate in the largest revenue state of the country, here's a quick look at what the alliance promised and the schemes that could be in store for Maharashtra.

The alliance leaders have vehemently stated that Maharashtra aims to have a $1 trillion economy by 2028. After the government is formed, they will deliver "Vision Maharashtra 2029" within 100 days. Here's a look at ten key schemes and policies expected to dominate the new government's agenda.

Ladki Bahin Yojana:

Under the Ladki Bahin Yojana, financial assistance will be increased from ₹1,500 to ₹2,100 per beneficiary, and financial literacy training will also be provided to strengthen their financial independence. Further, 25,000 women will be inducted into the police force across Maharashtra.

 Kisan Samman Yojana:

 A loan waiver will be provided for farmers, along with an increase in support under the Kisan Samman Yojana from ₹12,000 to ₹15,000 annually. Additionally, a price support scheme will be introduced in alignment with the MSP to cover price variations of up to 20%.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana:

 Food and shelter will be provided to all poor people in the State. Affordable housing under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban and Rural) is expected to receive a significant boost. The government aims to meet the housing demands of urban slum dwellers and rural poor, targeting over 1 million new homes by 2025.

Old Age Pension:

The Old Age Pension will be increased from ₹1,500 to ₹2,100 per month, providing greater financial security and dignity for senior citizens across Maharashtra. 

Student Welfare:

A monthly stipend of ₹10,000 will be provided to 10 lakh students across Maharashtra to support their education and ease financial burdens on families. Additionally, 25 lakh jobs will be created in the state.

Reduced Bills:

Electricity bills will be reduced by 30%, with a greater focus on solar and renewable energy sources. 

ASHA Sevaks

Anganwadi workers and ASHA Sevaks will receive a monthly honorarium of ₹15,000 and insurance coverage to ensure their financial security and well-being.

Akshay Anna Yojana:

Under the Akshay Anna Yojana, free rations, including rice, jowar, groundnut oil, salt, sugar, turmeric, mustard, cumin, and red chili powder, will be provided monthly to families from low-income groups.

Farm Tracks:

Farm tracks will be built across 45,000 villages in Maharashtra. 

Technology Leader:

Maharashtra aims to become a global leader in technology, manufacturing, and innovation by implementing the ‘Make in Maharashtra’ policy to boost manufacturing, establishing itself as the global capital for fintech and AI with the creation of an AI university, and developing cities like Nagpur, Pune, and Nashik into aerospace and space manufacturing hubs.
