The Mahakumbh Mela will be held in Prayagraj from January 13 to February 26 2025. Being an important religious, educational, and administrative center of India, Prayagraj is well connected to all the major cities of India via air, rail, and road.

"The Mahakumbh holds a special place in my heart.

In 1977, as a student filmmaker, I went to the Mahakumbh that year for shooting footage for my thesis film, which I named ‘YATRA’."

Even then, he was amazed to see how the administration managed such an incredible logistical challenge.

Today,  the numbers expected to attend boggles the mind.  “It is undoubtedly the world’s largest gathering”, Mahindra added.

He paid tribute to the manpower that goes into organising such a massive event.

“It is truly one of the wonders of both the ancient & modern worlds.”, Mahindra said.

Mahakumbh Mela 2025: About

The Maha Kumbh Mela (the festival of the sacred pitcher) is anchored in Hindu mythology. It is the world’s largest public gathering and collective act of faith. This congregation, primarily, includes Ascetics, Saints, Sadhus, Sadhvis, Kalpvasis and Pilgrims from all walks of life.

Kumbh Mela, in Hinduism, is a religious pilgrimage that is celebrated four times over 12 years. The geographical location of Kumbh Mela spans over four locations in India and the Mela site keeps rotating between one of the four pilgrimages on four sacred rivers as listed below:
