PM Modi’s Tribute to Ratan Tata: On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi , in an evocative tribute, shared Tata’s impact across sectors and his enduring influence on India's values and industries. In a heartfelt note, PM Modi expressed the collective sadness felt across “bustling cities and towns to villages,” noting that Tata’s absence resonates deeply with “seasoned industrialists, budding entrepreneurs and hardworking professionals.”
Ratan Tata Was An Inspiration to Youth: PM
The Prime Minister lauded Tata as “an inspiration” to youth that symbolises the possibility of merging “success with compassion as well as humility.”
“For the youth, Shri Ratan Tata was an inspiration, a reminder that dreams are worth pursuing and that success can coexist with compassion as well as humility. For others, he represented the finest traditions of Indian enterprise and a steadfast commitment to the values of integrity, excellence and service,” wrote PM Modi in a blog post on his official website.
Under Tata’s leadership, the Tata Group, one of India's foremost conglomerates, rose to global prominence.
Tata Set International Benchmarks
PM Modi underlined Tata’s dedication to setting international benchmarks saying, “He constantly championed excellence, urging Indian enterprises to set global benchmarks. This vision, I hope, will inspire our future leaders to make India synonymous with world-class quality.”
Yet, despite his remarkable achievements, Tata remained modest and grounded, with PM Modi admiring how he “wore his achievements lightly, with humility and kindness.”

Ratan Tata’s deep connection with India’s entrepreneurial spirit extended to the country's emerging startup ecosystem. PM Modi noted, “By backing their efforts, he empowered a generation of dreamers to take bold risks and push boundaries.”

Beyond his business ventures, Tata’s dedication to animal welfare and social causes reflected his broader humanitarian commitment. As Modi recalled, “His compassion extended to all living beings,” with Tata famously sharing moments with his beloved dogs, underscoring a softer side of the industrial titan.
Reopening of Taj Hotel after 26/11
Remembering Tata’s resilience, Modi recounted how Tata reopened the iconic Taj Hotel following the devastating 26/11 attacks in Mumbai. PM wrote, “For crores of Indians, Shri Ratan Tata’s patriotism shone brightest in times of crisis. His swift reopening of the iconic Taj Hotel in Mumbai after the 26/11 terror attacks was a rallying call to the nation—India stands united, refusing to yield to terrorism.”
As PM Modi expressed, Tata’s life embodied a vision where “business can serve as a force for good.”
