Immense optimism towards India: PM Modi says after meeting top tech brass in New York

Prime Minister Narendra Modi , on a three-day visit to the United States, engaged with top industry leaders in New York to highlight India’s commitment to technology and innovation. At a roundtable hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) School of Engineering, PM Modi reassured CEOs of his government's dedication to protecting intellectual property and fostering tech innovation.
The roundtable included prominent figures from major technology firms, such as Shantanu Narayen (Adobe), Sundar Pichai ( Google ), Arvind Krishna (IBM), Lisa Su (AMD), and Jensen Huang (NVIDIA). During the discussions, Modi explored opportunities for collaboration in cutting-edge sectors like Artificial Intelligence (AI), quantum computing, semiconductors, and biotechnology.
An official statement from the Prime Minister's Office noted that discussions focused on the global technology landscape and its impact on human development and the economy. CEOs expressed their enthusiasm for working with India, sharing insights on leveraging technology for innovation.
PM Modi stressed the significance of initiatives like the India-US Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (ICET) as vital to the Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership between the two nations. He said that enhanced tech cooperation could yield mutual benefits, stating, “Had a fruitful roundtable with tech CEOs in New York... I am glad to see immense optimism towards India.”
The Prime Minister invited the participating companies to explore opportunities for co-development, co-design, and co-production in India, highlighting the country's rapid economic transformation. He outlined ambitious plans for making India a global hub for semiconductor manufacturing and discussed the BIO E3 policy aimed at establishing India as a leader in biotechnology.
On the topic of AI, Modi reaffirmed India's commitment to promoting ethical and responsible use of technology. The CEOs responded positively, indicating a strong interest in increasing investments and collaborations within India. They recognized the nation’s growing status as a technology hub, supported by favorable policies, a robust market, and a talented workforce.
The roundtable concluded with a shared commitment to deeper collaboration and partnerships to advance global technological innovation. The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, highlighted Modi's discussions with American tech leaders, reaffirming India's growth prospects.
In a separate bilateral meeting, PM Modi spoke with Krishna Singh, founder and CEO of Holtec International, regarding the company’s plans to expand manufacturing in India and opportunities for cooperation in civil nuclear energy. Jaiswal shared updates on this meeting via social media.
PM Modi's visit also included attendance at the Quad Leaders' Summit in Delaware, alongside US President Joe Biden, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. Before returning to India, the Prime Minister will address the Indian diaspora in Long Island and deliver a speech at the "Summit of the Future" during the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
