Government committed to future-ready skills training: PM Modi
Modi further highlighted the critical role of skilled youth as a major asset for India, describing them as essential contributors to the nation’s growth.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reaffirmed the government’s dedication to providing future-ready and globally relevant skills training, stressing on policies aimed at empowering the youth of India. This commitment was highlighted in his message for the Skill Convocation Ceremony, 'Kaushal Deekshant Samaroh,' held on Saturday.
In his address, Modi expressed confidence that India’s young professionals will significantly impact the global workforce and contribute to the country’s ambition of becoming the world’s third-largest economy. He noted that India is increasingly recognised as a hub of skilled talent, thanks to the expertise and scale of its youthful workforce.
"The Prime Minister assured that with India's policies centred on empowering youth, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is dedicated to providing future-ready, globally relevant skill training," an official statement quoted him as saying.
Modi further highlighted the critical role of skilled youth as a major asset for India, describing them as essential contributors to the nation’s growth.
Jayant Chaudhary, Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, also addressed the gathering, noting that India’s skill ecosystem comprises a vast network of 15,000 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) that have maintained their credibility over the years.
"Through the collaborative efforts of our directorates and state governments, we have established a robust assessment system that empowers students to shape their future," he stated.
Chaudhary said that, for the first time in Union Budget history, improvements to ITIs have been prioritised, aligning this initiative with the government’s transformative vision for India.
"Our ITIs must cater to the specific needs of local industries to ensure that skill development remains relevant and impactful. I urge companies, as well as Members of Parliament and Legislative Assemblies, to take a personal interest in the upgradation of these institutions," he concluded.
