Did Vande Bharat Train To Goa Really 'Lose' Track And Reach Kalyan? Railways Clarifies - See Post
Akhilesh Yadav’s claim that the CSMT-Madgaon Vande Bharat Express diverted to Kalyan instead of Goa prompted a clarification from the Railways.
The Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Mumbai’s Central Railway issued a statement addressing post by Akhilesh Yadav, national president of the Samajwadi Party. Yadav’s social media post claimed that the CSMT-Madgaon Vande Bharat Express "lost its track" and ended up at Kalyan instead of its scheduled route to Goa.
The DRM’s response refuted the claim, labeling it "factually incorrect." The official post clarified, "The train was diverted because of a problem en route. The train had started from its scheduled station, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Mumbai, and arrived at the predetermined scheduled station, Madgaon."
Technical Snag Causes Route Diversion
Railway officials explained that the train’s course was altered due to a technical issue at Diva station in Thane, Maharashtra. Central Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer Swapnil Nila revealed that a failure in the signaling and telecommunications system at point number 103 caused the disruption. This critical point connects the down fast line and the fifth line at Diva Junction, a pivotal area for trains heading towards the Konkan region.
As a result, the Vande Bharat train was rerouted through Kalyan station instead of taking the usual Diva-Panvel railway line. It then reversed direction from Kalyan back to Diva before proceeding on its designated path to Madgaon.
90-Minute Delay Affects Local Services
The detour caused a 90-minute delay in the Vande Bharat train’s journey, impacting Mumbai’s local train services on the Central Railway line. According to Nila, “The train reached platform number six at Kalyan station around 7:04 AM via the 5th line. It was reversed to Diva station via the 6th line at 7:13 AM.” After resuming its route from Diva, the train continued without further complications, eventually reaching Madgaon.
