Early morning Delhi's air quality worsened to 'very poor' today, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 381 at 8 AM, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).


The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has reinstated Stage 3 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) after Delhi’s AQI dropped to the 'severe' category on January 29.


Restricted Activities Under GRAP-3


Actions under Stage I, II, and III will be put into place, evaluated, and tracked to make sure the air quality doesn't worsen, according to an official announcement.

  • Construction & Mining: All construction, demolition, and non-essential mining activities are suspended.
  • Transport Restrictions: Non-electric, non-CNG, and non-BS-VI diesel interstate buses are restricted. BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel four-wheelers are banned.
  • School Closures: Schools are advised to shut for students up to Class 5 in Delhi-NCR.
  • Commercial Vehicles: Entry of commercial vehicles into Delhi is restricted.

Relief from Rain


The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts rain in early February due to two upcoming western disturbances. This could help improve air quality in Delhi and surrounding areas.

Delhi recorded a temperature of 10.4°C at 5:30 AM. According to the forecast, a minimum of 12.05°C and a maximum of 25.29°C.  However, sky conditions are expected to remain clear.
