Bharat Dynamics Limited Bags Mega Rs 2,960 Crore Order From Indian Navy
The officials of MoD and BDL, in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh inked the contract in New Delhi on January 16, 2025.
Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) and the Ministry of Defence (MoD) have signed a contract for the supply of Medium-Range Surface-to-Air Missiles (MRSAM) for the Indian Navy at a cost of approximately Rs 2,960 crore.
The officials of MoD and BDL, in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh inked the contract in New Delhi on January 16, 2025.
The MRSAM system is a standard fit, onboard multiple Indian Naval Ships and is planned to be fitted on the majority of the future platforms planned for acquisition.
The signing of this contract is a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to bolster India's defence capabilities and indigenous advanced military technology.
The initiative is also aligned with the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' initiative and the missiles will be supplied by BDL under 'Buy (Indian)' category with largely indigenous content.
The contract is also going to generate employment for approximately 3.5 lakh mandays in the defence sector. This will include contributions from multiple Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
The MRSAM (IAF) is an advanced network-centric combat air defence system jointly developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) as well as Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), in collaboration with the Indian industry, including both private and public sectors, and MSMEs.
