Bank Holiday Today: The Reserve Bank of India ( RBI ) has announced that banks across the country will remain closed for a total of 15 days in October 2024, including October 11 on the occasion of Mahanavami. 

Among the key holidays this month, Gandhi Jayanti was observed on October 2, while regional festivals such as Navratri, Durga Puja, and state-specific celebrations are also causing bank closures. It is important to note that while physical branches will be closed, online and digital banking services will remain operational to ensure uninterrupted access to financial services.

Upcoming Bank Holidays in October 2024:

October 11: Banks will be closed in various states for Dussehra (Mahashtami/Mahanavami), Ayudha Puja, Durga Puja (Dasain), and Durga Ashtami. Branches will not operate in cities such as Agartala, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Gangtok, Guwahati, Imphal, Itanagar, Kohima, Kolkata, Patna, Shillong, and Ranchi.

October 12: Additional closures are expected for Dussehra (Mahanavami/Vijayadashmi) and Durga Puja (Dasain). Banks in cities like Agartala, Belapur, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, New Delhi, Patna, and several others will remain closed.

October 13: Sunday – a regular weekly bank holiday.

October 14: Durga Puja (Dasain) will result in a bank holiday in Gangtok.

Other Key Dates in October 2024:

October 17: Maharshi Valmiki Jayanti and Kati Bihu will be observed, leading to closures in Karnataka, Assam, and Himachal Pradesh.

October 26: Banks in Jammu and Kashmir will observe Accession Day.

October 31: Diwali (Deepavali) will cause closures across various states, especially in Gujarat and West Bengal. This day also marks the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. 

While physical branches observe these holidays, customers can continue to use digital banking platforms for their transactions.
