American Airlines, on Tuesday, said that all flights had been ‘grounded’ on Christmas Eve. Several reports cited AA officials as saying that the flights were grounded due to ‘technical’ reasons.

American Airlines Grounds All Flights On Christmas Eve - What's The Reason?
The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that the airline had requested a ground stop for all its flights.
"We're currently experiencing a technical issue with all American Airlines flights," the airline wrote early Tuesday on X while responding to an impacted customer.
"Your safety is our utmost priority, once this is rectified, we'll have you safely on your way to your destination," the post said.
This issue comes as millions of travelers are either trying to go back home for the holiday season or have other travel plans. All travelers can check their flight status on the American Airlines website before reaching the airport to avoid chaos.
The company has, however, not specified what this technical issue might be. Several passengers have posted on social media that their flights had been stuck on the runway at various airports and were now being sent back to the gate.
Shares of the carrier declined by 3.8 per cent before the bell.
Earlier the airline was also hit by a cyber attack when there was a global outage tied to Microsoft's Azure cloud platform and there had been a software issue at CrowdStrike.
