Indian stock markets started Thursday with the Sensex opening 49.38 points lower at 81,476.76 and the Nifty 50 showing a slight dip of 37.35 points to 24,604.45. Investors are keeping an eye on Vedanta's upcoming board meeting, which could announce the fourth interim dividend for FY 2024-25.  On Wednesday, markets ended flat as the Sensex gained a marginal 16.09 points to close at 81,526.14, while the Nifty held firm at 24,650.

Reliance Power Surge 5%

Reliance Power's stock surged 5%, hitting the upper circuit limit of Rs 46.24 per share, following an announcement that its subsidiary, Reliance NU Suntech, secured a 930 MW solar energy project. The contract, awarded by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) through an e-reverse auction, involves a tariff of Rs 3.53 per kWh. The project also includes the installation of a battery energy storage system (BESS) with a minimum capacity of 465 MW/1,860 MWh, powered by solar energy.

Acme Solar Holdings has secured a 250 MW Firm & Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project in an e-reverse auction held by NHPC at a tariff of Rs 4.56 per unit. The project includes a green-shoe option that could expand its capacity up to 500 MW. With this win, Acme Solar's total capacity now reaches 6,970 MW. The stock is currently trading at Rs 272.10, up by 1.49%.

Adani Green Energy's subsidiary has successfully commissioned a 250 MW solar power plant in Rajasthan. With this addition, the company’s total operational renewable energy capacity now stands at 11,434 MW.
