Around the world major stock markets have observed a holiday on New Year's Eve and have not traded on January 1, 2025. But the Indian stock market remained open on Wednesday as usual.

The BSE and NSE will however, observe their first holiday of the new year on February 26, on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri.

The BSE and NSE have released their official holiday calendar and the stock markets will remain closed on 14 days in 2025. These days include festivals such as Diwali, Christmas and Eid, as well as national holidays like Independence Day and Gandhi Jayanti.
