US President-elect Donald Trump took to the social media platform, Truth Social congratulating bitcoin owners for crossing $100,000. The current value of the cryptocurrency is over $100,000 per bitcoin, with value skyrocketting since Trump won the 2024 US Presidential election.

Trump wrote, "CONGRATULATIONS BITCOINERS!!! $100,000!!! YOU’RE WELCOME!!! Together, we will Make America Great Again!"

Trump's Optimism About Bitcoin

Donald Trump always projected himself as crypto friendly during his election campaign, and had pledged to make bitcoin and cryptocurrency the capital of the world. “Bitcoin crossing $100,000 is more than just a milestone; it's a testament to shifting tides in finance, technology, and geopolitics,” Justin D'Anethan, a Hong Kong-based independent crypto analyst, told Reuters.

Trump's support for Bitcoin has led to doubling of crypto currency's value, with 45 per cent rising within four weeks of Trump's election victory.

Trump's Stance On Bitcoin: Changing Tunes

Trump had earlier claimed he is not a fan of cryptocurrency or Bitcoin. He wrote on X, “I am not a fan of Bitcoin and other Cryptocurrencies, which are not money, and whose value is highly volatile and based on thin air. Unregulated Crypto Assets can facilitate unlawful behavior, including drug trade and other illegal activity....”
