Anand Rathi Wealth made a notable move in the Indian stock market today, with its shares soaring nearly 8% intraday.

On the National Stock Exchange ( NSE ), the stock opened at Rs 3,989.90 and reached an intraday high of Rs 4,139.30 before stabilizing. By 12:55 PM, it was trading at Rs 3,945.00, reflecting a gain of 110.60 Pts or 2.88% over the previous close of Rs 3,834.40.

On the Bombay Stock Exchange ( BSE ), the stock opened at Rs 3,980.00, hit a high of Rs 4,133.35, and was trading at Rs 3,946.05 at 12:56 PM, marking an increase of Rs 104.50 or 2.72% compared to the previous close of Rs 3,841.55.

Why the Surge?
The rally is attributed to the company’s announcement on January 8 regarding its upcoming board meeting. As per the exchange filing, Anand Rathi Wealth’s board will deliberate on a proposal to issue bonus shares during their meeting scheduled for January 13, 2025.

The official filing stated: “Board Meeting scheduled to be held on Monday, i.e., 13th January, 2025, this is to inform you that the Board of Directors in its meeting inter-alia would also consider a proposal for Issuance of Bonus Shares to the shareholders of the Company.”


Understanding Bonus Shares
Bonus shares are additional shares issued to existing shareholders at no cost. They are distributed in proportion to the shareholder’s current holdings. For instance, a company may offer one bonus share for every five shares held by an investor.
