In a recent post on LinkedIn, Co-founder of Mamaearth, Ghazal Alagh commented on India and its culture and how it has played its role in making her realise things about resilience.

In the post, she says that she always remembers something that her mother has always told her and taught her a few years ago, "In the face of adversity, remember the roots. Like the banyan tree, even when storms rage, your foundation keeps you standing tall."

The entrepreneur noted that she has come to realise a few things about resilience and pointing out three points.

In Indian culture, she says people are taught that true strength is not about being invincible but it is about being adaptable, like the banyan tree which is able to whether the harshest storms as their roots run deep. "Resilience is about learning, growing and bouncing back stronger, just like the cycle of nature in our scriptures," she added.

She also clarifies that resilience is not synonymous to instant results much like how Lord Vishnu "took countless ages to restore balance to the universe, resilience is about steady progress over time," she said. As seasons change slowly, each of them contribute to the beauty and prosperity of the earth and that the same applies to our personal as well as professional journeys. According to her resilience is about building something that lasts, one step at a time.

She further states that in the Indian tradition "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" means that the world is one family. Similaryly, resilience is not just about individual strength but the collective strength of those around us. "Whether it's the guidance of elders, the support of friends and peers, or the unity within a community, the strength we drive from our relationships plays a crucial role in overcoming adversity," she added.

These are some of the factors that keep her grounded in her entrepreneurial journey, she said, adding that it symbolises longevity, endurance and stability.
