Former Infosys CFO Mohandas Pai criticised IndiGo on Sunday for air-conditioning inside the plane when it was at the Bengaluru airport. Pai, who was flying from Bengaluru to Coimbatore, posted about his incident on X (previously Twitter), stating that passengers were forced to endure the heat inside the plane while it waited on the runway.

“Sitting in 6E 7407 without AC on hot tarmac in Bengaluru. No way to treat passengers. Only after protest staff using tarmac generator for AC. Pl change your protocol,” Pai quoted.

IndiGo Response To Incident

IndiGo responded to the complaint with a two-part statement on X, underlining their dedication to client comfort.

"Sir, thank you for taking the time to meet our airport team. At IndiGo, customer comfort is of utmost importance to us. We assure you that your feedback is noted and we will share it with the concerned team for necessary review," the airline stated.

In contrast to bigger aircraft, ATRs used for short-distance flights, like the one from Bengaluru, often do not have air conditioning while parked since the engine powers the system, which is turned off while the aircraft is at rest.

Flood Of Reactions From Users

A user commented while criticising the airline saying,

“Indigo misses son’s baggage from Chicago. It comes home after 4 days. Indigo is a shameless penny pinching airline who despite delay in delivery of baggage, refuses to compensate passenger to buy some clothes. No shame in charging peak fares”.

Another wrote saying on the frequent delaying of flights.”Most of the domestic airlines are going down even in their basic customer service with arrogance and high handedness ,added to their frequent delays. High time @DGCAIndia acts on this”.
