Aman Goel, an IIT Bombay alumnus, shares his unorthodox path to success, debunking popular myths about millionaire habits.
Aman Goel, an IIT Bombay graduate, is challenging the traditional hustle culture with his viral post that has garnered widespread attention across social media. In his post, Goel, a multi-millionaire in his 20s, admits to not following the "ideal habits" often touted by success gurus—such as waking up at 5 AM, taking cold showers, or reading books for self-improvement.
Success beyond routines
Despite defying these commonly endorsed routines, Goel stresses that his success came from focusing on what truly matters—creating value. "I wake up at 8:30 AM, sometimes even 9 AM. I sleep for 8 hours every day," Goel writes. He further reveals that he has never been an avid reader and prefers learning from quick, actionable sources like Twitter and podcasts.
I don't wake up at 5 AM. I don't take cold showers. I don't read books. I don't follow the "ideal habits" that people claim are essential to becoming a millionaire.
Yet, here I am—a multi-millionaire in my 20s.

Goel’s message resonates with many who feel pressured by the so-called “ideal lifestyle” promoted by influencers.
According to him, these habits are not essential for success. Instead, Goel stresses the importance of building something valuable and selling it to customers. "Success doesn’t come from ‘ideal’ routines—it comes from taking action and delivering value," he explains.
"Here’s the truth: The “ideal lifestyle” influencers push is NOT a prerequisite for success. If you want to become a millionaire: - Build something valuable. - Sell it to customers. - Repeat until you make your millions," he asserted.
Debate on hustle culture
The post has sparked a debate about the hustle culture and whether following rigid routines is truly necessary for entrepreneurial success. While many acknowledge the benefits of good habits, Goel's message highlights the importance of finding what works best for an individual, without succumbing to FOMO created by the hustle-driven influencers.
In his concluding message, Goel reassures followers that this perspective is not about undermining the value of discipline and good habits. Instead, it is about emphasising that success is not a one-size-fits-all formula.
