Tuhin Kanta Pandey Appointed as New Finance Secretary
He is currently serving as the Secretary of the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM).
New Finance Secretary: Tuhin Kanta Pandey, a 1987-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the Odisha cadre, has been appointed as the new Finance Secretary. He is currently serving as the Secretary of the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM).
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet gave its nod for Pandey’s appointment, as per an official order from the Personnel Ministry.
Pandey succeeds TV Somanathan, who recently took over the role of Cabinet Secretary. As is the norm, the senior-most officer in the Finance Ministry is chosen to head the role of Finance Secretary.
With an extensive career in administration, Pandey’s experience, particularly in managing public investments and assets under DIPAM, is seen as valuable for the Finance Ministry’s top post. His appointment follows the vacancy created by Somanathan's transition last month.
