India Economic Summit: While addressing a distinguished gathering at Republic Media Network's 4th edition of India Economic Summit, Finance Minister shed light upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi 's 'Viksit Bharat Vision' and spoke at length about why India elected him as its leader for a third consecutive term.
"Indian citizens are confident in the leadership and they have elected PM Modi for a third term because they want stability, they want good governance, they want a leadership which will place India above all," said the Finance Minister in her conversation with Republic's Editor-In-Chief, Arnab Goswami.
Sitharaman in her very direct jab at the Opposition added that there are voices within India that are pulling down its confidence.
To further emphasise on this she went on to cite an example of Karna from the Mahabharata wherein she illustrates how his morale was primarily affected and pulled down by his 'rathasaarathi.'
"I am bringing that example to say that while the whole world observes India, that against sever odds which everybody is facing globally, not just India, India's own challenges are also there for us, somehow, along with the people's strength moving forward with a clear leadership, stable policies, good taxation structure," Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Tuesday.
Although she spoke in the affirmative about doing more for the middle class, but aslo highlighted the presence of many 'Shalyas.'
Nirmala Sitharaman's Appeal
The Finance Minister urged that India maintains its confidence in itself and does not get carried away by 'Shalyas' that are meant to pull one down, adding that there is a good leadership which knows how to take India forward, despite existing challenges.
She insisted that the challenges will be addressed but there must be confidence in the fact that India is essentially on the right path, especially vis-a-vis the 'Viksit Bharat Vision'.
