Prime Minister of India, PM Modi is to speak at the 'Summit of the Future' at UNGA on 23rd September. Is PM Modi Going to Meet Donald Trump? Speculations are rife about whether the visiting Indian Prime Minister Modi will or will not meet the former US President Donald Trump. The Donald had claimed earlier this week while addressing a town hall meeting in Michigan that he is eagerly waiting for an appointment with PM Modi.

QUAD Summit Focus

The Indo-Pacific does not refer to China, but the QUAD summit is going to address some of the most pressing development issues in the region. Quoting Jake Sullivan, the National Security Adviser for the United States, "The purpose of the QUAD is not to come together around China or any other country. It's about how to construct a free and open Indo-Pacific." Regional Cooperation provides a much bigger scheme where clarity exists in visions, says Jake Sullivan.

Firm Tone on North Korea, South China Sea

"The QUAD leaders are likely to be using some of the strongest language so far on North Korea and issues concerning the South China Sea," a senior US administration official said. "I think you can expect to see in the soon-to-be-released joint statement some of the strongest language that the Quad has ever produced, particularly on the South China Sea and on North Korea," the official said, underscoring that these issues must be taken seriously.
