Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday celebrated the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) resounding victory in Maharashtra, calling it a "Maha Vijay" (great victory) that marked the triumph of positive politics and governance over negative and family-centric politics. Addressing BJP workers at the party headquarters in Delhi, Modi emphasised that the win was a reflection of the party's robust governance model, which he claimed had resonated deeply with the people of Maharashtra.

“This is the biggest victory for any party or pre-poll alliance in the last 50 years,” Modi declared. “Today, vikaswad (developmental politics) has triumphed, while lies and betrayal have been rejected. Negative politics and family-centric politics have lost today,” he added, underlining the party's focus on development and governance as key drivers of its success.
Modi also pointed to the historic nature of BJP’s achievement, noting that this was the third consecutive election in which the party had emerged as the largest in Maharashtra. “BJP alone secured more seats than Congress and its allies combined, a clear endorsement of our policies and governance model,” he stated.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the symbolic significance of the state’s victory, referencing Maharashtra's rich history. "The land of legends like Chhatrapati Shivaji, Mahatma Phule, Savitribai Phule, Baba Ambedkar, and Bal Thackeray has broken records this time,” he said. "This victory is a stamp on BJP's governance model and its vision for a new Maharashtra."

Modi’s remarks reflect his belief that the party's focus on development, social welfare, and governance reforms has successfully won the trust of voters in Maharashtra while undermining traditional political strategies based on family dynasties and personal allegiances. The victory, he added, sends a strong message that the electorate favours governance that prioritises the welfare of the people and ensures progress over legacy-based politics.
