In a fresh hike, the price of a 19 kg commercial LPG gas cylinder has been increased by Rs 16.50, effective from today, December 1, 2024. This change has raised the retail cost of a 19 kg cylinder to Rs 1,818.50 in Delhi. The hike comes amid fluctuating global fuel prices and is expected to impact various commercial sectors.
Price of 5 Kg Free Trade LPG Cylinders Also Rises
Along with the 19 kg commercial cylinder, the price of 5 kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinders has also seen an increase. The cost of a 5 kg cylinder has gone up by Rs 4, though the price of the standard 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinders remains unchanged.
Previous Price Hikes in Recent Months
This latest increase follows a series of price hikes for commercial LPG cylinders in the past few months. In November, the 19 kg cylinder price was raised by Rs 62, bringing the retail price to Rs 1,802. Earlier, in October, the price was increased by Rs 48.50, and in September, the cost rose by Rs 39, bringing the retail price to Rs 1,691.50.
Impact on Businesses and Small Enterprises
The recent price hike is expected to affect businesses that rely on commercial LPG cylinders, particularly in the hospitality and food service industries. Restaurants, hotels, and small businesses are likely to face higher operational costs, which could result in price increases for consumers or affect the profitability of such businesses.
Global Fuel Market Volatility Drives Price Adjustments
The increase in LPG prices is largely attributed to the ongoing volatility in the global fuel markets. Fluctuations in global oil prices have prompted oil marketing companies to revise their rates. While households are shielded from this price hike, as domestic LPG cylinder prices remain unaffected, commercial establishments are bearing the brunt of these changes.
Relief for Households Amid Price Surge
Though the cost of commercial LPG cylinders has risen, the price of the 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinders has not been altered, offering some relief to households. However, the continued rise in commercial gas prices indicates that businesses will be adjusting to higher operational costs in the near future.
